Horry County Schools (HCS) and Coastal Carolina University (CCU) share a longstanding commitment to expanding educational opportunities, increasing college access, and supporting student success across our region. Through this partnership, HCS and CCU have developed a Summer Dual Enrollment with Direct Admission Program for eligible HCS students.
Registration will be available from Wednesday, May 6 at 6 pm through Monday, May 11 at 12 pm.

The HCS Summer Scholars program is a special experience that provides academic enrichment opportunities for gifted and talented students in grades 3-11.

Mrs. Futrell is one of our ESOL/ML teachers and Chairperson of their department. She was voted by the SHS faculty and staff as our 2025-26 Teacher of the Year and is now one of five finalists for HCS Teacher of the Year! Please join us in celebrating this outstanding teacher and leader. She is a shining example of our Brave Nation!

Horry County Schools’ performance on the 2025 state report cards, based on overall ratings, shows that 38 out of 57 district schools were rated as Excellent or Good. Of those, 16 HCS schools were rated Excellent and 22 were rated Good, while 18 earned a score of Average.
HCS Scholars Academy High School is ranked #1 of all 1,309 schools in the state, earning a report card score of 99.7 out of 100!

Rise with Reading is a districtwide literacy challenge designed to motivate and celebrate reading among our 48,000 K-12 students. Through achievable goals, recognition, and engaging resources, we aim to build a community of readers and celebrate the joy of learning.

Reminder to ORDER YOUR CAP AND GOWN before the price increases on December 1. Please submit your orders as soon as possible over Thanksgiving break! You can order online at HerffJones.com. Everyone in the senior class should have their order submitted before December 1, but if you are a January Graduate please be sure that your order is submitted as soon as possible.
If you are experiencing financial hardship and need assistance paying for your cap and gown, please contact Herff Jones directly and they can provide assistance, but you must order by the deadline to ensure that they can provide help.
